There is a big decline of women in computer science. For some reason, girls do not find studying computers as well as boys do. Some claim they are discouraged, and I think we should encourage them for STEM jobs rather than discourage them.
In the 1950s and 1960s most of the programmers and computer operators were women. Women took up most of the computer science students and men usually didn’t study computer science. When AT&T’s Bell Labs Dennis Ritchie was developing the C language and Unix he was asked what it is like being a man in a career that most women take. He would tell them he was doing what he loved to do, and that gender has nothing to do with computers.
