Ever since the George W. Bush administration, there was a push to make all medical records electronic so they can be sent with the patient. A lot of money was put into making records electronic and stored on servers. Apparently not much was done to secure those servers from attackers who want to steal medical records.
A famous person has the right via HIPPA to have their medical records private, anyone has this right to privacy under HIPPA. Hackers can break into servers and steal medical records and sell them to the highest bidder.
I am disabled and on medicare, I get a lot of phone calls trying to scam me out of my medicare by signing me up for services I don’t need. Only your doctor can diagnose you with an illness and set a treatment or prescription order.
Medical records should be better protected, it is not just the exploits to worry about, but weak passwords that someone can guess, or open access to the server or workstation via a virus with remote access abilities.
