I’ve often said that it is a Post-PC era. People got rid of their PCs to get mobile devices. Even TV sets and Toasters have an operating system and computer inside them. Most popular OS for appliances and TV sets is Android. Android tablets and smartphones are cheaper than Apple’s around the world. So Android just replaced Windows for the market share of Internet devices.
Oh, it had to happen, also upgrading to Windows 10 broke a lot of PCs as well. You still have people using older Windows than 10, but a lot of them aren’t even on the Internet because Internet Explorer 6.0 and under no longer work with SSL sites because of expired certificates and no way to update them. So IE gets error messages instead. I think that was planned by Microsoft to get rid of old PCs and old Windows versions. Vista and up should still be good for a year or two before Microsoft dumps them too. You can just install Firefox, Chrome, or K-Melon or whatever on older Windows PCs and surf with that.
Apple done goofed up by not licensing iOS for smart TVs and toasters and refrigerators, etc. Android is now King of the Operating Systems, and Apple is starting to lose market share and shares of Apple are going down. Even the Mac is outdated, each new MacOS version shuts old older Macs that can’t run it and then Apple shuts off security updates so that older MacOS versions have more security holes than Windows.
But hey, you can download Linux for your Mac and PC and it won’t suck, until you have to upgrade to a new version of Linux and hope it doesn’t fail.
