Microsoft does not support modern CPUs in Windows 7, forcing people to upgrade to Windows 10

I really like Windows 7, I don’t like Windows 8.X and 10 that much. I can buy a Windows 7 Pro license on eBay for $10 and use Digital River ISOs to burn a DVD and install from that. I’ve always advocated for people to stay one or two versions behind to save money.

First Microsoft gave away free copies of Windows 10 to 8.1 and 7 users. They even forced upgrades to Windows 10 without the user’s permission. Now if you have a modern CPU Windows 7 and 8.1 give Windows Update errors with the CPU not supported. This was sort of what IBM OS/2 did with installs, you had to get an old processor to install it. It is part of things that led to IBM OS/2 being phased out.

I really don’t know why Windows 7 can’t support those CPUs, I figure they got Intel and AMD etc to no longer write driver files for Windows 7 or 8.1 but 10 only. That is how Microsoft killed IBM OS/2 they got OEMs to quit supporting it.

Why wouldn’t you want to run Windows 10? The built-in spyware and adware being two things, the domestic spying is another thing. Not being able to run apps and software that ran in Windows 7 and below due to incompatibility issues in 10.

Try Linux instead: http://lubuntu.net/ Lubuntu is a good place to start, as would Mint as well: https://linuxmint.com/
