With free upgrades to Windows 10, Microsoft Windows took back the desktop from GNU/Linux. It is too bad that Linux is cross-platform and can be installed on almost any computer or tablet or smartphone on the planet. The Kernel in GNU/Linux is in Android, and the core of GNU/Linux is in Chromebooks. The Rasperry PI and other devices also run Linux as do many VPS systems and web servers.
This is the Post-Microsoft and Post-Desktop and Post-Windows world now, as Linux is spread to many devices for the Internet of Things. Valve Software is working on SteamOS and porting video games to Linux with their other game companies, SteamOS is based on Debian Linux.
In truth, those Intel and AMD CPU systems can get a Linux CD/DVD and install Linux on them. My system runs Windows 10 and Linux Mint and can dual boot them. Downloading Linux ISO files is free, and there is no DRM in Linux or any other backdoors that Microsoft puts into Windows. Plus Linux loads up faster than Windows.
